‘Bestie Date’: My top 5 girly things to do in Dubai

Dubai city walk: Things to do in Dubai

Perfect weather in Dubai calls for fun activities during your off days. I recently had my sister and friend visiting me in Dubai and decided to do a roundup of the most picturesque places we have been to! Get out and about the next time you have an off day with your ‘bestie’ and try these top 5 girly things to do in Dubai. You are guaranteed the most “Instagram-worthy” pictures!

1. Marvel at the flowers of Miracle Garden

Every winter this spectacular installation of flower sculptures pops up in Dubai, after 3 seasons of living here I finally paid a visit and was not disappointed. Nowhere else in the world would you see a life-size Airbus A380 covered in flowers, complete with moving engines..

Feel like Alice in wonderland with millions of flowers surrounding you, with a potential  Instagram worthy picture around every corner… or hedge.

Opening times:

9AM – 9PM, Sunday to Thursday

9AM – 11PM during Weekends (Friday and Saturday)

45AED for adults and 35AED for children below 12yrs

2. Do window shopping in City walk and enjoy an afternoon tea at Jolie Cafe

In the heart of city walk you will find Jolie Cafe. This is the best spot in Dubai to inhale the scent of fresh flowers and home-baked cakes! Every occupied table is adorned with fresh flower petals and  every order is accompanied by a rose.

A Cream tea and scone will cost you 39AED, making this one of the more affordable quick outings of Dubai. Don’t miss the Iced cardamom Chai latte, a bit more pricey, but accompanied by a theatrical and captivating entrance of smoke and bright pink rose petals.

This drink tastes like Turkish Delight which descended from heaven!

3. Spend a day at La Mer basking in the sun and enjoy a designer Gelato

Visit La Mer in Jumeira on your next beach day! This new development is perfect for a leisure breakaway from the city’s hustle and bustle, and should soon be a ‘insta-fanatics’ favourite spot. This public beach is lined with colourful changing rooms and meandering walkways surrounded by ‘urban-chic ‘restaurants.

Take a day just to relax on the beach or discover the wall art around every corner with an artsy Amorino Gelato in your hand.

4. Find yourself in the ‘Lost Chambers Aquarium’ of Atlantis

Take the monorail to Atlantis to explore the ‘Lost Chambers Aquarium’. This aquarium is one of my favourites in the world with a lost ‘underwater-city’ feel.

Take it even further by booking a Hatha Yoga class in one of the main halls for you and your bestie and marvel at the underwater life in cobra pose.

Bookings can be made on the website below…

5. Relive the old city of Dubai in Bastakiya and sip on Arabic tea

This is my go to place in Dubai every time I have visitors in Dubai. Ideally located a stone throw away from Dubai Museum, Creek and the ‘must see’ souks. Bastakiya is perfect for an afternoon visit and finding the perfect restaurant in one of many hidden courtyards should be part of your exploring process.

One of my favourite places is the Arabian Tea House, perfectly located to enjoy your fist cup of Arabic tea before getting lost in the beauty of the ancient looking alleys and Bougainville rooftops.  Enjoy lunch in one of the new-found courtyards while admiring artworks of several ‘Gulf artist’
