Family Camping photoshoot: Embracing Our Roots

Family Camping photoshoot: sunset swims in the farm reservoir

I recently had a bitter-sweet reunion with my family in South Africa. Expat life gets difficult when families are scattered wide and visits are limited to yearly. We only had a few days together but a night in our ‘Rooiboslaagte’ camp was imminent. With golden sunsets and the Bushveld as backdrop I could not help myself but to capture these moments in this Family Camping Photoshoot.

Our farm, where my dad set up a permanent camp site, is located about 30 kilometers from my home town Ellisras in Limpopo province. This area is well-known for its unruly bushes and diversity in wildlife

Even though we were half way to a South African winter, my husband and Hugo braved the cold waters of the farm reservoir, while the rest of us hanged around the edge marvelling in  the sunset silhouettes of  “Maroela” trees. This sunset dips turned into such a sweet album.
